November 4, 2 3-hour sessions, Noon to 3 PM or 5 PM to 8 PM.

As Washington DC comes to the end of its outdoor beer festival season, there are a few last notable festivals - one being the DC Beer Festival at Nationals Park. For $45, the festival offers unlimited samples of over 80 breweries' beer, both local and national. This is an especially great way to taste many of the region's breweries in one place: notable local breweries include: Union Craft (Baltimore), Brewer's Art (Baltimore), Old Ox (Ashburn, VA), Port City (Alexandria, VA), Right Proper (DC), 3 Stars (DC), and BadWolf (Manassas, VA). If you attend, definitely take advantage of the burgeoning Navy Yard neighborhood pre- or post-event, like standouts District Winery and Bluejacket Brewery.

DC Beer Festival. Nationals Park, 1500 S Capitol St. SE. Tickets here.

District Winery. 385 Water St. SE.

Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m

BrewLights combines two of many people's favorite activities - Christmas lights and beer festivals. With the Christmas season kicking off immediately after Thanksgiving (if not before), many light displays begin as well. BrewLights is a great way to experience ZooLights, especially if you are a craft beer fan. Even better, all ticket proceeds, $55 for the public, $45 for Friends of the National Zoo (FONZ) members, support the critical work of the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute—including species preservation and animal care. Expect the Small Mammal House, Reptile Discovery Center and Think Tank to be open.

This is another great opportunity to taste local and national beers, this time in a perfectly timed holiday setting. There are over twenty local and regional breweries included, to include the usual suspects as well as some less usual including 7 Locks Brewing (Rockville MD), Adroit Theory (Purceville, VA), Caboose Brewing Company (Vienna, VA), Hellbender Brewing Company (Washington DC), O'Connor Brewing Co. (Norfolk, VA), and Oliver Brewing Co. (Baltimore, MD).

BrewLights at the National Zoo. Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Purchase tickets here.

ZooLights runs from Friday, November 24, 2017 to Monday, January 1, 2018 (except Dec. 24, 25 and 31). ZooLights, like the National Zoo itself, is free.
